Driving in snow is very unlike driving on arid or wet tarmac. It’s a lot easier to lose control of your vehicle. Things to be alert and things to do while driving in snow or on ice.

1. Reduce your speed

When amidst your vehicle and tarmac is layer of snow or ice, forget when it comes to fast driving. Your speed must be adjusted consequently to yours and your vehicle/tyre capablenesses. Do not forget it doesn’t matter how long you have had your driving licence or how a good deal of miles you have driven in your life – because somebody else on a road may endanger you.

2. Increase distance amidst you and other road users.

It’s very crucial if you drive in county were snow is a rare thing and not everyone has snow/ice tyres as you may stop in fewer distance than somebody else behind you on normal tyres. Do not forget the further space you have amidst other cars the further time you must react to emergency circumstance.

3. Do not make any sudden moves.

Even one sudden steering wheel movement may lead you to nearest tree or ditch. Alter of travel should be done as gently and smooth as possible. Do not forget on tarmac vehicle has a lot more grip, and a good deal of humans seem to forget that when driving in snow or on ice, so don’t make this error in judgement.
Break early before turns, and select lower gear if you’re driving manual and take a turn as slowly as possible.

4. Breaking

You better be smooth not only with accelerator and steering wheel but breaks similarly. Almost all of modern cars are equipped with abs which assists you maintain control of your car whilst breaking in slippery conditions. If your car doesn’t have abs attempt and imitate it by pressing and freeing brake pedal with strong and sharp movements. If your car has abs equipped don’t be frightened – just floor it. Also to brakes if your car has manual gearbox you may use that to your vantage by breaking with engine. To do so alter to lower gear gradually but do not forget it only works if you have a good deal of distance to come to a halt.

5. Control your skidding.

If you loose control of your car do not panic and do not make it worse just stay calm. You have to respond instantly by turning steering wheel in opposite direction gently and smoothly – don’t take your hands of the wheel!

As you know dissimilar cars have dissimilar drive trains if your car is:

All- wheel drive (4wd) – it’s harder to make all wheel drive car skid but it’s similarly harder to rectify it. It counts on system and type of your car’s 4wd system and power distribution amidst axles. With 4wd car its dissimilar you have to steer in direction of skidding (rear and front wheel drive cars steer in opposite direction) and remainder throttle by pressing and freeing it gradually.
And most crucial thing use your head.

However, no one would argue the reality that being a good driver equals being a safe driver.

Traits of Good Drivers

- Car maintenance – a good driver makes sure his car is maintained and in tip top shape.
- Obeys the laws of the road – a good driver is careful of the rules in his city and state and follows them.

- Observant – a driver keeps both hands on the wheel and his or her eyes on the road.
//-->

Traits of Bad Drivers

On the other end of the spectrum, a bad driver feels he or she’s above the law and can do whatever they wish.

The traits of bad drivers include:

- Speeding – drivers who speed seldom realize that each mile per hour over the speed limit increases the risks of death should a collision occur. Slowing down decreases this risk and might even enable you to respond in time to avoid an accident.

- Cell phone use – Statistics indicate that individuals who chat on the phone while driving have the same impairment as a drunk driver with a .08% alcohol level.

- Rude aggressive behavior – Aggressive drivers are not only bad drivers but they’re very careless and have no respect for anybody other than themselves.

- Constant distraction – picking stuff up from the car floor boards or yelling at the unruly kids in the back seat are not activities one should engage in while driving. It’s always best in scenarios where your attention will be taken off of the road to pullover rather than to continue driving.

- Poor car upkeep – driving with worn car treads or ignoring obvious break issues makes the car far more dangerous than a car that’s routinely taken care of.

If you find that you’re bad driver, don’t despair. It’s never too late to start adopting the traits of a responsible motorist. The trick is to change your mindset.

Indeed, you won’t be able to change your driving habits until you realize how potentially harmful they’re. Once you do this, you’ll become not only a safer driver but a more careful one as well.
